1. Your choice#

Refusing changes nothing in how KiftMe works. Your choice is kept for 6 months on this device, then we ask you again.

2. What is needed to work#

These items need no consent: without them KiftMe does not work, or does not remember a choice you made yourself. They are all set by KiftMe, for KiftMe; none is used for advertising or to follow you on other sites.

Anti-bot check

When you sign in with a password and in the Help “Write to the team” form, a Cloudflare anti-bot check (Turnstile) loads to protect your account and our service from automated submissions. It is needed for security and is not used for advertising.

3. Audience measurement#

Without your consent: anonymous counting, no cookies

We count page views and a few key actions (for example starting a subject or sending an answer), never their content, with PostHog (hosted in the European Union, through our own address ph.kiftme.com). Nothing is written to your device, we do not know who you are, nothing follows you from site to site, and these statistics are only used to improve KiftMe.

You can object to it: the “Also turn off anonymous counting” button, higher up on this page, stops all sending from this device.

With your consent: clicks and session recording

If you accept, we also count clicks, never their text, and PostHog keeps an identifier on your device (ph_…_posthog, 1 year) and records your sessions to help us find what is not working. In these recordings all text is masked, including the fields you fill in, and images are not recorded: nobody can read your expressions, your messages or your Mirror.

If you arrive through a link from one of our campaigns, the source written in the link (for example “meta”) is remembered during your visit, without writing anything on your device, and attached to your account if you create it. With your consent (measurement or advertising), it is kept in the tab, so that it survives signing in with Google or Apple.

The mobile app contains no audience measurement and no advertising pixel. On Android, if you install the app from one of our campaigns, the Play Store tells it which campaign (the source and name written in the link, nothing that identifies your phone): the app keeps it for at most 7 days (kiftme.install_campaign), then attaches it to your account if you create it, and deletes it.

4. Our ads on Meta and TikTok#

There are no ads inside KiftMe. KiftMe runs ads on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok to become known. Only with your “advertising” consent, and only from 18, Meta’s and TikTok’s pixels load on the website and set their cookies to learn whether you came from one of our ads. Without that consent, none of these cookies is set and nothing is passed to them.

What we pass to them, and why: privacy policy.

km-ads-blocked (in the tab)KiftMeSwitching the pixels off if the signed-in account is under 18Until the tab is closed

The durations of _fbp, _fbc and _ttp are set by Meta and TikTok. If you withdraw your consent, the pixels go silent and these cookies are cleared from your browser. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, advertising is refused, whatever you chose.

5. Videos from other sites#

A Subject may link to a YouTube or TikTok video. That site’s player only loads if you tap “Play” (for YouTube, in its version without advertising cookies, youtube-nocookie.com); the site may then set its own cookies, under its own rules.

Before that, the video’s preview image is shown from that site’s servers: your browser connects to them (the site sees your IP address), without cookies and without telling it which KiftMe page you came from.
