KiftMe Rules
Here, you don’t write to be seen. You write to be read by people who lived the same thing. These rules protect that. KiftMe moderates risk, not disagreement.
The essentials
- You can disagree, strongly. You can’t target a person to hurt them.
- Nothing sexual involving minors, ever, in any form.
- No threats, no calls to violence, no hatred against a group.
- Don’t reveal anyone’s address, number, school or location.
- No scams, no fake accounts, no spam.
- If you’re not okay, you can say it here. If someone is in danger, report it, and in an emergency call 112.
What’s welcome
- A sharp, unpopular or opposing opinion.
- Criticizing an idea, a religion, a party, a government.
- Telling what you went through, even when it’s hard: a breakup, a loss, an addiction, an illness.
- Talking about sexuality, bodies and relationships to understand, learn or heal.
- Fiction, humor, satire and parody, when it’s clear that’s what it is.
- Asking for help, for yourself or for someone else.
What doesn’t belong here
Protecting minors
Zero tolerance. The text or image in question is removed at once; as soon as the team confirms the sexual exploitation of a minor, the account is suspended then closed, and the relevant authorities are notified where the law requires it. Details: our child safety standards.
- Any image, text or request that sexualizes a minor.
- Asking a minor for photos, pushing them to expose themselves, or blackmailing them.
- Trying to get close to a minor to manipulate them (grooming).
Sexuality and nudity
Talking about sexuality is fine. Showing or soliciting is not.
- Pornography and explicit sexual descriptions.
- Sharing someone’s intimate image without consent, or threatening to.
- Sexually soliciting someone who didn’t ask for it.
Harassment
Disagreement isn’t harassment. Going after a person again and again is.
- Targeting the same person repeatedly to put them down.
- Organizing or joining a group humiliation.
- Unwanted sexual comments or advances.
- Coming back to someone who blocked you, under another name or another way.
Hate
Criticizing a belief or an idea is allowed. Attacking people for who they are is not.
- Dehumanizing people for their origin, religion, gender, orientation, disability or nationality.
- Calling for them to be excluded, discriminated against or harmed.
- Glorifying violence committed against them.
Threats and violence
Fiction and telling what happened to you belong here. A real threat never does.
- Threatening someone with violence, even “as a joke”.
- Inciting harm against a person or a group.
- Recruiting for, or glorifying, a violent or terrorist organization.
Shocking violence
Images or stories of very graphic real violence have no place here, even to denounce it. Talking about a violent event is still fine, without the shocking detail.
- Photos or videos of serious injuries, bodies or torture
- Detailed stories of real violence meant to shock or glorify
Self-harm
Saying you’re not okay, telling what you’re going through or how you got through it is welcome. If you’re in danger right now, call 112 or find a line near you at findahelpline.com.
- Encouraging someone to hurt themselves or end their life.
- Sharing methods, amounts or dangerous challenges.
- Presenting eating disorders as a goal.
Illegal and dangerous activities
Talking about it, learning, bearing witness: yes. Concretely helping someone do it: no.
- Selling or supplying drugs, weapons or prescription medicine.
- Explaining concretely how to commit a crime.
- Pushing minors toward alcohol, tobacco or drugs.
Personal information
Everyone decides what they say about themselves. No one decides it for others.
- Revealing someone’s address, number, school, class, workplace or location.
- Showing an ID, bank or medical document, yours or someone else’s.
- Gathering information about someone in order to find them.
Scams and spam
An uncomfortable opinion isn’t spam. Deceiving people is.
- Phishing, fake contests, fake offers, requests for money.
- Trying to get a password, a code or banking details.
- Repeating the same message or creating subjects in bulk to pull people elsewhere.
Impersonation
You are you. Parody is fine when it’s obvious at first glance.
- Pretending to be another person, a brand or an institution.
- Creating an account to get around a block or a suspension.
Copyright
Share what you have the right to share. A rights holder can report a work that belongs to them; the person concerned can dispute it, and the work is restored if the dispute is founded. No machine decides a copyright question on its own.
- Reusing someone else’s whole work as if it were yours.
Minimum age
KiftMe is open from age 15. If you think someone is under 15, report their profile. Between 15 and 17, the rules are the same, with extra protections: your profile can’t become discoverable, and some features are limited.
Everything else
A situation fits no box but puts someone in danger? Report it anyway: a person will look at it.
When a rule is broken
Depending on severity: a warning, a subject shown to fewer people, an expression or message removed, a temporary suspension, and as a last resort account closure.
Exploitation of a minor and serious threats lead to immediate action.
A report alone is never proof of a fault: it is reviewed, then we decide.
Every decision tells you which rule is involved, what changes and how to dispute it. It also says whether it was made automatically.
Disputing is free and reviewed by a person. If the decision was a mistake, everything is restored.
Reporting
Every subject, expression, message and profile has a “…” menu with “Report”. The reported person doesn’t know who reported them. You can also block someone at any time. In immediate danger, call 112.
When these rules change
We let you know in the app. If the change is significant, we ask you to read and accept the new rules before writing again; you can keep reading in the meantime.
